India Inc. Single-window clearances, minimal procedures & cutting out of any red-tapism – PM Modi sees Make in India
as a Vital impetus for employment & growth.

The “Make in India” initiative was launched globally in September 2014 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, marking a renewed national focus on the manufacturing sector. Its core objective is to position India as the world’s most preferred destination for manufacturing.

Since its launch, the Government of India has undertaken significant reforms to foster an enabling environment for manufacturing, design, innovation, and startups. These efforts have contributed to India emerging as the fastest-growing major economy globally. With a growth rate accelerating to 7.5%, India stands as a dynamic centre of growth amid a subdued global economic landscape.

The initiative aims to integrate India deeply into the global supply chain and empower Indian companies to excel in the international market. To this end, India has proactively opened key sectors—such as Defence, Railways, Construction, Insurance, Pension Funds, and Medical Devices—to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), making the economy one of the most open in the world.
Supporting this openness, the Government of India has implemented a series of measures to radically improve the Ease of Doing Business, with the goal of creating a simple, facilitative regulatory environment where enterprise can thrive.
